Mexico has made a number of improvements, jumping from 73rd on the 2006 list to 48th on the 2012 list.  It is far ahead of China, which did not move from 91st place on the list between the 2006 report and the 2013 report. In the 2011 report, Mexico in 35th place overall, was the top Latin American country on the list. Mexico jumped from 74th place to 26th place in terms of ease of starting a business between the 2012 an 2013 reports. Mexico is also emerging as one of the capital’s emerging IT outsourcing sector. In a recent article I explained that “More than 600,000 people already work in IT, with another 65,000 new professionals graduating each year from the dozens of technical and engineering schools clustered throughout Mexico.” The country is working to improve is business environment and also spur growth in new high-tech sectors.
